ユーレカスプリングスにお出かけ／Day trip to Eureka Springs

９月後半に入り秋らしい天気が続くアーカンソーでございます。
先日はフェイエットビルから車で約１時間半行った先にある、ユーレカスプリングスという町に行ってまいりました。
アーカンソーではちょっとした観光地になっているこの場所は、土曜日ということもあってそれなりに混んでいました。
ユーレカスプリングスのダウンタウンは坂が続く道を挟んでお店が並んでおり、どのお店もそこにしかないローカルなお店で歩いているだけで楽しいのです。
街の中で突然ハンプティがダンブティしているのを見つけたり‥‥
階段に素敵なペイントが施されていたり、 手作り感満載のアートな街並みがこの街の魅力です。
お昼はMud Cafeでケイジャンサンドイッチを食べました。写真で見るとかなりのボリュームのこの一品も、だんだん一人で食べきれるようになってきているからちょっと心配です😓
そして極め付けはデザートに食べたチョコレートケーキ！美味しかったけど歯が溶けるほど甘かった！（もちろん旦那さんとシェアしましたよ！）
アメリカのお菓子は基本的にどれもどにかく甘くしたもん勝ちな印象があるのですが（甘いもの好きな自分としては決して不味くはないが）こんなのを頻繁に食べていたらそりゃ太るわな〜としみじみ感じながら完食いたしました。
帰り際に駐車場では細い木を集めて作ったようなオブジェを発見。
チープな外見だけど、こんなところでリトルジャパンを作ってくれた製作者にほっこりしました。
ちなみに今回は行きませんでしたが、ユーレカスプリングスにはクレセントホテルというアメリカでも最も呪われていると言われるホテルがあります（現在も普通にホテルとして営業中）。
なんでも自然に囲まれたこの地で湧き出る水の力で、病気が治ったり疲労が回復するなどという噂が広がり、その昔保養地として全米で有名になったユーレカスプリングス。
そんな中で建てられたクレセントホテルを「癌治療」の目的で買い取った医者がいたのですが、この医者は患者の治療をするどころか、高い入院費をせしめただけでなく、入院患者を自身の人体実験の材料として使っていたとかいないとか。。。
その医者に騙されて亡くなった人の霊が今でもこのホテルに出てくる！ということで、ゴーストを見たい人でこのホテルは結構人気だそうです。おーこわ。

Autumn weather is coming to the corner here in Arkansas.
My husband & I went to a little town called Eureka Springs yesterday, located about an hour and half from Fayetteville.
This town is knowns as a touristic town and we saw quite a few people there ("quite a few" for AR of course). There is a winding uphill goes throughout the downtown Eureka Springs, where you can find many local shops in both side of the street, and it is really fun to walk around.
Saying hello to Humpty Dumpty...
There are a lot of paintings and handmade signs decorating the town.
And we had lunch at Mud Cafe (receives high review on Trip Advisor) and I had a Cajun Sandwich there. I have slowly started to realize that I am becoming to eat a complete meal here in the States (meaning I'm eating A LOT)....need to closely monitor my weight for sure...
And of course we also had a desert. It was a chocolate moose cake, too sweet for Japanese standard but it was tasty.(it was also good that I had somebody to share with!)
In my perspective, all of american sweets are way to sweet (does not mean they taste bad, just really sweet) and if I keep eating them I can surely gain so fast....scary fact.
At the parking lot on the way back, we found this little Japan🇯🇵
Whoever made this, thank you for your work it made me think of home and made me happy.
We did not visit this time but there is a hotel called Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, which said to be one of the most haunted hotels in America.(It's still runs as a regular hotel) This historic hotel does look like there is something mysterious, which attracts a lot of people.
Maybe next time we will come back for ghost hunting!.....or probably not👻
